SCRAM

How To Use SCRAM

Send and receive private, self-destructing messages among up to 3 people — no servers, no cloud, no trace.

The rules

  • Maximum 3 peers per run (including you).
  • Photos, up to 30-second videos, and up to 30-second voice clips only.
  • All content lives in the browsers of connected peers — never on a server.
  • A timed countdown or the owner's SCRAM! button wipes everything instantly.
1

Open SCRAM

Click the gold SCRAM badge on the Adge homepage (just below the Local Override button). You'll land on the SCRAM intro page — click the SCRAM logo or the "Enter SCRAM" button to reach the hub, where every run begins.

2

Start a run

On the SCRAM hub, press "Create Multi-Peer SCRAM Room". You'll be dropped into a private room with a unique 10-digit code. You are the run's owner (starter).

3

Invite up to 2 more people

As the owner, send your 10-digit code to up to two other people (3 peers total, including you). You can send it by text message to a cell phone number, or — rare case — mail a letter with the code printed on it. Both options are in the room panel under "Invite to Run".

4

They join the run

Your invitee opens the SCRAM hub (Adge homepage → SCRAM badge → Enter SCRAM), types the 10-digit code into the "Connect to Run" box, and presses the "Connect to Run" button. Their handle then appears in the roster.

5

Send a text message

Type into the message bar at the bottom and press enter (or tap the send button). Your message is delivered peer-to-peer — no server stores it, ever.

6

Send a photo, video, or voice clip

Tap the attachment icon to send a photo or a short video (up to 30 seconds). Tap the mic icon to record up to 30 seconds of voice. Media is split into 8 KB chunks and streamed directly to every connected peer. A progress bar shows transfer status and checkmarks confirm delivery.

7

Receive messages

Incoming text, media, and voice arrive live in the chat feed. Media is rebuilt in each recipient's browser and played from a temporary local blob — it is never uploaded to a server. Only people in the room can see it.

8

Watch the timer

Every run has a countdown. When it hits zero — or if the owner taps the red SCRAM! button — every connection is wiped, blob URLs are revoked, local state is cleared, and all peers are sent to the splash screen. Nothing is left behind.

9

Leave anytime

Close the tab or navigate away to leave the run. If you were the owner, ending the run self-destructs it for everyone.
